Babies R Us - Union Square – A reader writes: “The Babies R Us at Union Square has a designated room with 2 glider-rockers, three changing tables, and an assortment of couches/armchairs. There are also nice high windows that let in natural light. Quite pleasant.”

The GapLexington Avenue - A reader writes: “The Gap on Lexington Ave at 58th St has two private changing rooms in their maternity department, each with comfy chairs and extra nursing pads (Medela, I think).”

The Destination Maternity – A reader writes: “The Destination Maternity on Madison Ave at 57th St has couches in the center of the store, with a play-yard for older kids. They claim to be ‘nursing-friendly,’ so I’m sure they’d let you use a dressing room as well, but they’re kinda small. There’s nice, clean restrooms with changing stations and a water fountain. They also offer shoppers complimentary water or orange juice.”

St.  Vincent’s Hospital – A reader writes:”One more quiet place I’ve nursed my son: the lobby of St Vincent’s hospital (7th Ave at 12th St). It’s spacious, quiet, never crowded and semi-private if you sit near the back. There’s a water fountain and bathroom nearby with a changing station.”

Babies R Us – A reader writes: “There is a mothers’ room in the back of the store next to the restrooms. Kept pretty clean, has two couches, dimmed lighting, and two changing tables with an assortment of diapers (even diaper pails!) they have two or three air purifiers in there to keep it from smelling badly.”

St. Charles Town Centre – A reader writes: “St. Charles Towne Center is also in the process of remodeling the mall, and according to the plans on display in the center of the mall, there will be a designated separate nursing room near the restrooms. The remodel should be completed by the Christmas season.”

Macy’s Home Store – A reader writes: “The women’s restroom has a little room in the front with a comfortable sofa that is suitable for nursing.”

Babies R Us – A reader writes: The Babies R Us in Ogden has a mothers’ room. It has a loveseat and comfy chair, along with a small table with a lamp, and a changing table. They also offer free bottle warming, for those who use bottles. The only downside is that I didn’t notice a lock on the door, which doesn’t bother me, but some more shy people may be bothered by the fact that other nursing mothers may join them.

South Portland.  The room, which seemed clean enough to me, has a
couch, glider, and double changing station with diaper genie and extra
dipes (but ONLY in newborn sizes!)

IKEA - A reader writes: “They had super-comfortable chairs, a changing station with sink, etc. There was room for large strollers and toys for other children to play with while waiting for baby to nurse. I was very impressed with the room…they also have a sign on the door instructing people to knock before entering. There is room for more than one mom/family to use the room at a time.”
