Babies R Us – A reader writes: “There is a mothers’ room in the back of the store next to the restrooms. Kept pretty clean, has two couches, dimmed lighting, and two changing tables with an assortment of diapers (even diaper pails!) they have two or three air purifiers in there to keep it from smelling badly.”

St. Charles Town Centre – A reader writes: “St. Charles Towne Center is also in the process of remodeling the mall, and according to the plans on display in the center of the mall, there will be a designated separate nursing room near the restrooms. The remodel should be completed by the Christmas season.”

Macy’s Home Store – A reader writes: “The women’s restroom has a little room in the front with a comfortable sofa that is suitable for nursing.”

Salem Center Mall -

Nordstrom – A reader writes:  “One of my friends (a more avid shopper than I), showed me the women’s lounge at the Nordstrom located in the Salem Center mall. It’s the mall in downtown Salem, not too far from the capitol building.

It features nice couches and soft lighting. It does open up to the bathroom, but is very clean. Both my friend and I have nursed our babies there on multiple occasions. It’s even large enough to handle my tandem stroller and her jogging stroller (which fits her two boys).”

Little Shop of Stories -  A reader writes: “If you’re in Decatur Square (near the courthouse and all the shops), there is a bookstore called Little Shop of Stories that is very supportive of nursing moms. They have several couches where you are welcome to sit down and nurse (they used to have a sign on the door saying as much!). The area is not screened off or anything, so if you would like privacy, this isn’t ideal – but nobody will look askance at you.”

Emory University – Atlanta, GA

Emory University - A reader writes: “If you’re on the campus of Emory University in Atlanta, there are several official nursing/pumping areas. The two that are easily accessible from the quad are in Woodruff Library (3rd floor in the Schatten Gallery; you can pop in the administration office there to ask for more specific directions if you can’t find it) and in the Women’s Center (3rd floor of Cox Hall, where the big foodcourt is). The one in the library is fairly bare bones, but it offers a quiet place with privacy – it is a room that connects to the bathroom where there are 2 chairs that are screened off from view. The one in the women’s center is MUCH nicer – dim lighting, a couch with lots of pillows … very warm and inviting. I wish I had a nursing area like that at home!”
